Q&A with Celine Cohen

Can you tell us 3 things about you?

1. I hold three passports: French, American and Canadian

2. I am half Moroccan

3. I married by college sweetheart and we have two boys.

What’s on your nightstand?

Hand cream, a glass of water and lots of books! Always reading a book.

Favorite piece of wisdom that you’ve received as a mother?

This too, shall pass.

What are you reading?

Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion

What are you listening to (podcast, Spotify playlist)?

How I Built This on NPR

Your favorite place on earth?

Antibes, France

How do you make time for you?

Exactly that - I make time. Treat it like any other meeting/obligation. I put time in my calendar for my yoga classes, plan out my week to include my needs.

Do you believe in balance?

Yes, but not in the traditional sense. Balance looks different for everyone and at every life stage.

The key is to embrace and not resent what is on your plate at that moment. And if it's not working, know that you can change it, if not immediately, then make a plan on how it will improve.

How are you contributing to the mama-universe? How do you empower mamas?

I am the Founder of Allette, a line of chic NYC-made nursing clothes. Based on my own experience nursing my babies, there was nothing in the market that appealed to me as a "fashion-savvy" woman and gave me the new "functional" needs I needed; discreet nursing access, easy wash, cuts designed for a postpartum body. We love seeing women find a little bit of their old selves again in clothes that give them confidence.

Allette is a line of cool and chic dresses and tops for postpartum, fashion-savvy, moms. Each style includes discreet nursing access and is designed to flatter a new mother’s new body. Founded in 2016 by two Brooklyn moms, every NYC-made piece is feminine with a hint of badass (just like motherhood). Sold worldwide on www.alletteboutique.com and Nordstrom (US only). The line was featured in Fast Company as the nursing brand to “get pumped about!”. The brand is out to make every mom look like her old self again, one dress at a time. Because when Mama looks good, she feels good. And when she feels good, baby feels good. It's science(ish).
