Q&A with Natalie Garay

A Maven Mamas Q&A with Natalie Garay

Tell us 3 things about yourself!

  • I'm a mama to 3 beautiful teenage daughters, a puppy named Luna, and I'm a Pilates instructor

What’s on your nightstand?

  • My altar full of crystals, stacks and stacks of books, and notepads with lists galore!

Favorite piece of wisdom that you’ve received as a mother?

  • Enjoy it while you can.

What are you reading?

  • Body Love by Kelly Leveque, The Awakened Family by Dr. Shefali, and about 40 others.

What are you listening to (e.g., podcast, Spotify playlist)?

  • You Can Heal Your Life by Louse Hay, Holiday Traditions on Sirius Radio (too soon?), Ready. Aim. Empire. Podcast by Lisa Kueker

Your favorite place on earth?

  • My bed. It's my resting place, where I take my phone meetings, meditate, journal, and listen to the ocean waves.

Tell us about your Wisdom in the Mama app?

  • I believe in the power of movement and in listening to your body. There's so much information to be found when we tap in and listen. My creativity flows and my spirit glows when I maintain a consistent movement practice. This is the wisdom I want to share with mamas. Move your body to create or reignite the energy that you need to be the mama you want to be.

How do you make time for you?

  • I schedule it. It's the only way to get it in. If it's not scheduled, it's not happening.

Do you believe in balance?

  • Nope. Sure, we can aim for it but trying to have balance every day could be more frustrating than helpful. Each day is going to be different, somedays we may feel like we tapped into every spoke on our life wheel, other days, not so much. And that's ok.

How are you contributing to the mama-universe? How do you empower mamas?

  • I empower mamas by helping them heal physically and emotionally with Pilates and Flower Essence therapy. After having my 3 daughters ( 2 c-sections and 2 months on bed rest), I had a hard time physically and emotional but was able to heal and find my sanity with a Pilates practice, homeopathic remedies, and mindfulness practices. And now I'm passing on that knowledge.

Natalie Garay, also known as The Pilates Mama, has the mission of helping live whole, healed and happy by offering Private Pilates Instruction with a focus on the pelvis, Flower Essence Therapy, mindfulness practices, and the support of an open-hearted community. She has placed all her experience and passion into a life-changing program called the Natalie Garay Methode.

All of her work is about teaching women that building their physical and inner strength is about more than just their body. She believes that by taking care of oneself first, in mind and body, we are more capable of taking care of others around us and beyond.
